Is studying one of your biggest fears when it comes to starting college?
Find a few of the BEST study tips here
We know that starting your new course includes a lot of work and studying and that this can be a bit daunting. Although it is definitely overwhelming at first, you can find a routine that works for you.
1. Be organised
Have study time scheduled into your days. Know what work needs to be completed for the day and get it done. Treat this study time as if it is a class – don’t use your phone and don’t just sit and talk with your friends. This ties in with the second point…
2. Turn off the distractions
Disable social media and turn your phone to airplane mode and get to work. It’s so much easier to get stuff done and retain information when you don’t have Facebook and incoming text messages to distract you. Trust us, you’ll thank us later.
3. Have goals
Make a list of both long-term and weekly goals and write them down in your calendar. This way, you know you’re taking baby steps towards your bigger goals. If you ever feel discouraged, you can look back through and see your progress!
4. Study every day
To study every day is a big adjustment, but one that will pay off later on. Even just quickly scanning your notes from the last lecture the ten minutes prior to class can help you retain information and not have to spend a lot of time cramming the last few days (or hour) before the test.
Try different ideas, stay on top of things and don’t wait until the last minute to #unleashthefutureyou.
